Hello Rachel,
Thanks so much for stopping by the Disney Parks Moms Panel! I'm glad to hear you're already making dining plans for your upcoming trip. Getting those reservations as close to the 180 day mark as possible is the best way to ensure you get just the right locations and times for your family.
In almost all cases, the credit card is required only to guarantee your reservation. Your credit card will not be charged unless your party does not show up for your reservation, so if your plans change, just be sure to cancel in advance. There is a very short list of exceptions to this rule, as the dining locations listed below require payment in full at the time you make your reservation.
- Cinderella’s Royal Table
- Hoop Dee Doo Revue
- Spirit of Aloha Luau
- Mickey’s Backyard BBQ
If you have a vacation package reserved that includes the Disney Dining Plan, I've heard that it might be possible to avoid this payment at the time you make your dining reservation. If it doesn't give you this option online, just call (407) WDW-DINE (939-3463) to inquire. Alternately, you can go ahead and make the payment at the time you book, and then get that refunded at the restaurant when you arrive for your reservation.
I hope that helps answer your question, Rachel. Please let us know if we can help with anything else as you make your vacation plans.
Have a magical day!
Beth
