Hi Jennifer, welcome to planDisney!
Thanks for asking this great question. The beauty of the
Disney Dining Plan is the convenience and flexibility that comes with it. You can use it for any meal during your vacation but you do not have to use it for every meal. If your child prefers to have a quick breakfast item and you do not want to use it against your dining plan, just let the cast member know that you will be paying for that item separately. Another option you may want to consider, depending on what item your child prefers to eat, may qualify as a snack on your dining plan. Just check for the Disney Dining Plan snack symbol or ask a cast member if you are unsure of what items qualify as a snack.
I'd also like to let you know that it has been my experience that the cast members are wonderful when working with the Disney Dining Plan. They will ensure you have all the items necessary to complete your meal. For example, if you purchase a quick-service children's meal and forget to select a drink that comes with the meal, they will let you know so you can make the meal whole.
You can also easily review your remaining meals and snacks in the
My Disney Experience app or on your most recent dining receipt. Unused meals and snacks will roll over to the following day and any meals or snacks remaining at midnight on your day of checkout will expire.
Jennifer, I hope you enjoy using your dining plan. I think you will find it easy and convenient to use during your magical vacation.
Diane
