We purchased at AKV in2012 & am still working out a few details. My use year is Sept. Want to borrow points from 2015 to book a stay in Oct 2015.Can we book at AKV now but change to BLT at 7th month window if available without losing our 2015 points.

    Hi Tammy!

Sometimes the banking and borrowing situation can be a little confusing, so I’m glad you’ve asked for help. You never want to lose any of those precious Vacation Points!

With a September Use Year, your 2015 points will be deposited into your account on September 1, 2015. If you are wishing to take a vacation in October of 2015 you would not need to borrow the 2015 points since that reservation would be in 2015 Use Year. Even though you are calling now, the banking and borrowing is based on the Use Year and date of the actual reservation, not on the date that you book the reservation.

If you have points currently available in your 2014 Use Year, you need to either use them prior to August 31, 2015 or you need to bank them into your 2015 Use Year before April 30, 2015.  If you have 2014 points you wish to use for the October 2015 vacation, you would need to first bank them into your 2015 Use Year, then use them to book the October reservation.

If you book your home resort now, and then book at a different resort at the 7 month window you should not lose any points. If all the points used to book the original reservation are 2015 points, you simply book the new reservation. As long as it uses less Vacation Points than the original, any extra Vacation Points will be returned to your 2015 Use Year. If you use a combination of banked 2014 Vacation Points and regular 2015 Vacation Points for the original reservation, you’ll need to make sure that the banked 2014 Vacation Points are used first to book the new reservation. Since banked points cannot be banked a second time, be sure those points are used first so they do not expire.

Please let me know if you need additional clarification or if there are any other questions that I can help you with as you plan your upcoming vacation!

    Wishing you Membership Magic!
