HOW TO PURCHASE A TICKET TO WIDE WORLD OF SPORTS

Welcome to planDisney, Gina, and batter up! I see you're heading to Walt Disney World Resort next month, and ESPN Wide of World of Sports is on your must-do list. I visited the complex last year during a runDisney Expo event, and I can understand why you'd like to check it out. So let's see your options to hit one out of the park on your upcoming visit.

I spoke to a friendly Cast Member who explained that the ESPN Wide World of Sports complex is not open to the general public in a consistent way at this time. Its operation is determined by specific events scheduled there. If no event is scheduled on a given day, then the complex will not be open at all. If there is an event on the calendar, admission would depend on the type of event and ticket availability.

The Cast Member added that if your Theme Park Tickets have the Park Hopper Plus Option, you might be able to visit the sports complex if it is open for an event. That ticket add-on could give you access to walk around the complex and purchase food from vendors and restaurants outside the event venue, but it would depend on the event.

If you're interested in attending a scheduled sporting event or competition, the event might offer tickets online through its own website. For example, I checked the calendar, and there's a Spring Training Event on the calendar during your dates. This event is for school and youth teams to train and do team building. If you know a student-athlete who will be participating during that time, the affiliated team might be able to provide a ticket to the event, so you would need to check with that group.

Gina, this may not have been the news you wanted to hear, but I hope I've given you some helpful information about the current ESPN Wide World of Sports experience. And policies and procedures are still rebounding and changing, so please watch the Disney Parks Blog for any announcements. I hope you can take yourself out to the ballgame soon and stop by planDisney anytime with your questions.

    Magic awaits,
    Elaine
