Hi Janelle!
Thanks for bringing this question to planDisney! This happens all the time in my family since I have little guys that can’t ride the big rides, yet!
I’m happy to let you know that you will not need to purchase a Lightning Lane Single Pass for everyone in your group if some won’t be riding.
If you plan to purchase Lightning Lane Multi Pass for the entire group that day, I recommend purchasing and booking your Lightning Lane Multi Pass pre-selections first. Then, go back and purchase your Lightning Lane Single Passes separately (in a different transaction). During each transaction, you’ll choose who you want to include in the purchase as you follow the prompts.
You can book up to two Lightning Lane Single Passes per day. And those don’t need to be at the same park if you have a valid park hopper.
At this time, the rides that offer Lightning Lane Single Passes are:
TRON and
Seven Dwarfs Mine Train at Magic Kingdom
Guardians of the Galaxy at Epcot
Rise of the Resistance at Hollywood Studios
Flight of Passage at Animal Kingdom
Your booking window for
Lightning Lane Multi Pass and Single Pass will open at the same time. If you’re staying at a Disney World resort or good neighbor hotel, your Lightning Lane booking window will open at 7 AM Eastern, 7 days prior to check-in. If you’re staying off property, your booking window will open at 7 AM Eastern, 3 days prior to the start date of your ticket if it’s a date-based ticket.
Remember, if you don’t snag the return times you were hoping for when you initially booked, you can always try to modify the time leading up to your trip and on your park day.
I hope that helps! Let us know if you have any other questions!
Jenn J.
