Hi Patricia,
Welcome to planDisney! I am glad to see you are taking advantage of the new Lightning Lane system to ensure that your party has shorter wait times and gets to ride some of their most desired attractions. I love that you now have the ability to plan this all out ahead of time and spend more time just enjoying the magic while you are in the theme parks.
When you purchase a
Lightning Lane Single Pass or Lightning Lane Multi Pass, you are required to choose the individual in My Disney Experience who will be enjoying the attractions. Once you purchase either of these passes, they are nonrefundable and nontransferable. I would ensure that you only purchase them for those who are willing and able to ride! A good way to ensure that your child is fully prepared for what they are getting themselves into and doesn't panic when you approach the ride is to watch some first-person rider point-of-view videos online. These are super common and we have used them in the past to prepare our kids for trying a new ride.
If you are just wondering how to navigate someone in your travel party staying with the kids while you ride, most larger attractions have
Rider Switch. This service allows one member of your group to stay with the kids outside of the queue while the rest of your party waits for their turn. Once your party is done riding, the guest who was with the kids can board without waiting in the standard queue. Since you mentioned having Lightning Lane Single Passes, you may not need to use this service. We typically head over to the attraction at the beginning of our reservation window and have half of our group head in. They are normally finished within plenty of time for the rest of our group to make it into the queue during our scheduled Lightning Lane return period.
Don't forget that if you are staying at a Disney Resort hotel, one of the
benefits is that you can purchase Lightning Lane passes 7 days before the first day of your Resort stay and for the length of your stay up to 14 days!
Happy Planning,
Jenna
