Hi there, Maya! Thanks for sending in your question to planDisney. It sounds like you're ready to lace up those running shoes. Over 25,000 princesses descend upon Walt Disney World Resort each February for a chance to run through Cinderella Castle. That magical moment makes all those training runs worth it!
Since the runDisney races begin before the park officially opens for the day, no admission is needed. My Prince Charming sometimes cheers me on as I run down
Magic Kingdom's Main Street, U.S.A., and at the finish line outside of
EPCOT, and the wonderful thing is no tickets are needed for
spectators either. Some runners like to head back into EPCOT after finishing for some medal photos and a celebratory meal, and for that, you would need a ticket. My favorite post-race lunch is the Prosciutto e Melone Pizza from
Via Napoli Ristorante e Pizzeria!
Make sure to arrive at least a day or two before the
Disney Princess Half Marathon so you can pick up your bib and race packet at the
Health & Fitness Expo. There is some unique merchandise and vendors, and I also like to stop and chat with Jeff Galloway for some motivation. He has some terrific
training plans on the runDisney website that involve the run-walk-run interval method. I've used his program to help me complete many half-marathons with a smile on my face!
I hope you enjoy running those magical miles, Maya! If you need anything else, feel free to write back anytime!
