Since your child has a theme park ticket that was not used, I do believe you should reach out to the resort. That's because you can still use the price you paid for that ticket as a credit toward the purchase of a new ticket. Before you purchase your vacation package, send an email to WDW Guest Services- Ticket Usage at
ticket.usage@DisneyWorld.com including the following items:
-Confirmation numbers you received when you purchased the tickets/ or pictures of the tickets
-Include your name
-Daytime telephone number where you can be reached
-Where and when the ticket was purchased
-Purchaser’s name
-Form of payment used
Explain your situation with the tickets and the new vacation you would like to purchase for your family's visit this October in the email. Disney will reach out with a solution and can walk you through the steps to be able to get the best use out of your unused ticket.
