Ahoy, Kathryn! Welcome aboard planDisney. We’re so glad you sailed by with your question!
I love that Disney Cruise Line vacations have that “everything’s taken care of” feeling. As Timon and Pumbaa would say, Hakuna Matata—no worries! Purchasing onboard credit ahead of time to cover your
Port Adventures is a fantastic idea.
On Disney cruises, onboard credit is applied to individual guests, not the stateroom as a whole. When you purchase onboard credit, you’ll have the option to assign a specific amount to each person on your reservation. So whether you’d like to keep all the credit under your name or split it among your travel party, it’s totally up to you.
In fact, I just purchased some onboard credit for my own upcoming cruise next month! I used my Disney Rewards Redemption Card, which was super easy and a great way to cover a few fun extras in advance. To do this, just visit the “
Onboard Gifts” section on the Disney Cruise Line website, found under the “Already Booked” tab. Enter your reservation details, select “Onboard Credit,” and choose the amount you’d like to add.
Once assigned, the credit can be used for just about anything onboard, Port Adventures, spa treatments, specialty drinks, souvenirs, and more! You’ll be able to keep track of onboard spending through the
Disney Cruise Line Navigator app or on your stateroom TV. Guest Services is also happy to provide a detailed printout if you prefer.
And here’s a helpful tip: if you purchase onboard credit and don’t use the full amount, any remaining balance will be automatically refunded to your original form of payment after the cruise. Just note that if the credit was a promotional gift (for example, from a travel agency), unused amounts typically aren’t refundable.
Wishing you smooth sailing and unforgettable adventures, Kathryn! Hakuna Matata!
