Hi Ashley,
Thanks for bringing your question to planDisney. I’m excited to hear about your upcoming visit and ready to help you plan a perfect park-hopping day between
Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park and Magic Kingdom Park.
The short answer is yes. Guests with
Park Hopper Option tickets can purchase
Lightning Lane Multi Pass at one park and use it at multiple parks on the same day, subject to availability. Your plan to buy Multi Pass for Animal Kingdom and then hop over to Magic Kingdom Park would work, but there are a few caveats I'd like to mention.
First, you’ll need to make all three of your initial Multi Pass selections at Animal Kingdom during the purchase process. Once you redeem one of your initial three selections, you can make additional selections (one at a time) at any park subject to availability. Let's say you book
Expedition Everest, Kilimanjaro Safaris, and Na'vi River Journey as your initial selections. After you scan in at Everest, you can book an additional selection at any park and should be able to modify your remaining two initial selections to Magic Kingdom attractions (depending on what's available). Keep in mind that waiting to make modifications may limit your choices at Magic Kingdom, as compared to making advance selections.
I often visit the parks with a similar plan to yours in mind. Since Animal Kingdom tends to open the earliest, I’ll typically rope drop Expedition Everest via the standby line and can ride a few times in a row in the very early morning hours. If that's all you plan to accomplish at Animal Kingdom, it may make more sense to purchase and schedule Lightning Lane Multi Pass at Magic Kingdom so your afternoon is already stacked when you arrive. The cost would be slightly higher going this route, as Magic Kingdom is a more expensive park with more attractions available. However, you’d get a larger selection of return windows without having to make modifications on the day of. I’d also like to mention that Expedition Everest offers a single rider line near the exit. So if you get to Animal Kingdom without a Multi Pass and discover that the standby line is longer than you’d like, you can split your group and use the single rider line to save some time.
I recommend reviewing the availability for Magic Kingdom now to get a sense of times and attractions that are still available. If you feel comfortable with what you see, go ahead and secure that ride on Everest, and then modify your selections later in the day according to your plan.
Based on an arrival date of March 3, you should already be
within your purchase window if you have an eligible resort reservation. If not, you can complete your purchase in the My Disney Experience app 3 days before your ticket start date, which is right around the corner.
I hope that helped, Ashley. Please come back and see us again with additional questions. Wishing you a magical vacation!
Adventure is out there,
Amy
