Can I purchase Disneyland tickets from Sam’s club for my son and his family? I have a Disney app also but am NOT going. I’m afraid if I buy the tickets they won’t be able to transfer them to their app. Also are there any blackout dates with Sams tickets?

    Hi there, Barbara!

Welcome to planDisney and how wonderfully gracious of you to purchase Disneyland Resort Theme Park Tickets for your son and his family! I'm sure that's going to make them so happy and will be a thoughtful and heartwarming gift that they'll remember for years.

I think it will be fine to buy your son's tickets through Sam's Club because people purchase Disneyland Resort tickets as gifts for others all the time, whether it be from the Disneyland website or a big box store like Sam's Club, Costco, or Target. Once the tickets are purchased, giving them access to the tickets and reservations is as simple as linking the tickets to their respective Disneyland account. If you've purchased tickets from a third party, they'll need to be activated in order to obtain the ticket ID number. After that, there are two methods by which your son can link the tickets to their account:

    1. Through the Disneyland website, have him hover the cursor over "My Disneyland" to reveal the pull down menu and then select "Link Tickets." On the next screen, he'll need to manually enter the ticket ID numbers of all the tickets he would like linked.
    2. In the Disneyland Mobile App (which he should download prior to their visit anyway), have him go to the "☰" Features Menu from the Home Screen. Scroll down and press "Link to Account." He may then use the phone's camera feature to scan the bar codes of the tickets or manually enter the ID numbers.

Once the tickets are linked, your son will be able to make reservations for their summer visit! As far as blockout dates, I visited the Sam's Club website and they appear to only sell multi-day tickets. There are no blockout dates for these tickets but they must be used within a 14 day window. Just be careful that you're purchasing the standard tickets because the Southern California Ticket Offer and the Kids' Special Ticket Offer do expire soon and may have blockout dates.

I hope that was helpful for you, Barbara! I'm very excited for your son and his family to visit the Happiest Place on Earth! If you or they have any more questions for us, please feel free to return again because we'd be happy to continue being involved in the planning process. Until next time!

Wishing You a Great, Big, Beautiful Tomorrow!

Meet the Panelist: Al, California

Ahoy there from the heart of Steinbeck Country in central California! I've been visiting the Disneyland Resort since childhood and fell in love with the sense of absolute immersion that the Imagineers have achieved. My favorite attraction is Pirates of the Caribbean because where else can you go from a California day to an evening boat ride in the bayou with "salty old pirates"? I'm a veterinarian and an all-around Disney geek and enthusiast. I'd love to help you plan your next Disneyland trip! Learn More About Al
