    Can I purchase discount military tickets for my brothers family to visit the park? I am retired military and checking to see how I would go about getting discount tickets for him. Thanks for your time and help.

    Hi Ernest! Welcome to planDisney. From all of us at planDisney, thank you for your service! You've come to the right place with your questions. I am happy to help you today!

    As a retired veteran, you qualify to purchase two ticket types offered by Walt Disney World Resort. The first is the Disney Military Salute Tickets, and the other type is the Magic Your Way tickets that are discounted. There are a few differences between the two, so I'll go over both types:

    • Salute Tickets: As a retiree, you can purchase up to six of these tickets per year. The catch is that you must be present with your brother's family for them to be able to use them. You (as the retiree) will need to "activate" them at Guest Relations (found at all four theme park entrances or at Disney Springs) using your military ID. Once this step is completed, you do not all have to be together for the remainder of the trip. 
    • Magic Your Way tickets: These tickets are considered "active," so the process of going to Guest Relations isn't needed. You add Park Hopper or Park Hopper Plus to these tickets (like the Salute tickets). This may be the better option if you do not plan on visiting with your brother's family.

    For both ticket types, theme park reservations are still needed to enter the theme parks. You can make reservations by downloading the My Disney Experience mobile app. Once you link tickets to everyone traveling, you can make theme park reservations. If you purchase Park Hopper tickets, you only need to make reservations for the first park you plan on entering that day. Park hopping is subject to capacity. Both ticket types are sold in the MWR/ITT office of your local military base or Shades of Green Resort.
