Hi Karen and welcome to planDisney! What a thoughtful gift! I’m happy to help you figure out your options for giving your son a gift he can enjoy at the Disneyland Resort!

You can absolutely purchase tickets for your son, but he can only use theme park tickets for Southern California Residents if he, or any other adults in his party, are also residents with proper government issued ID. Once you’ve purchased the tickets, he can modify the dates he wants to visit while the tickets are still valid, which would be through May 26, 2022. All he has to do is cancel the theme park reservations you have set and make new reservations for the dates that may work best for him and his family.

A Disney Gift Card is also a great gift! He can use it toward the purchase of theme park tickets, a stay at a Disneyland Resort hotel and during his adventures at the theme parks on merchandise or at restaurants. It really is the magical gift that keeps on giving!
