I want to propose to my partner in the space between entrances of Disneyland and California adventure parks, is it possible to bring an acoustic guitar into that area say if I hired someone to play a song on it for the proposal?

Hello there, John, and welcome to planDisney!

Thanks for bringing your question to us and congratulations on your upcoming proposal! I'm really excited for you and I love brainstorming for cool proposal ideas. Deep down, I think I'm a romantic at heart. Being married for over twenty years, I've discovered how important it is to keep the romance alive!

I admire your thinking, John, but I'm afraid I have some unfortunate news. Disney maintains a Prohibited Items List which details items that will not be allowed through the security checkpoint. Further down on the list, the guidelines state that "Miscellaneous other items (tools, fire extinguishers, musical instruments, megaphones, pots and pans)" would not be permitted. With that statement, I don't believe that an acoustic guitar would be allowed.

I'm sorry for that less than magical news, but that just means that we hit the drawing board again! There are so many romantic locations throughout the Disneyland Resort. You're definitely able to propose to your partner in the Esplanade between the Park entrances. There's also a beautiful gazebo located in the Rose Court Garden on the grounds of the Disneyland Hotel that's fairly private.

If you head into the Parks, there are even more places from which to choose! And you'll have the chance to use a Disney PhotoPass photographer to capture that magic moment for you! Of course, the classic location is right in front of Sleeping Beauty Castle. If you want something a little more secluded, Snow White Grotto just to the side of the Castle is a great place. And if you want fewer people around when you propose, mornings tend to be far less crowded.

If you want to recruit the help of a character or a PhotoPass photographer, I like to recommend that you keep a few notecards on you that say "I'm proposing! Shh!" and hand them to the Cast Member before the encounter so they can be prepared to assist you. I guarantee that they'll do their best to add some Disney magic to your moment.

Finally, don't forget to stop and grab a couple of complimentary "I'm Celebrating" or "Happily Ever After" buttons so others can share in your joy!

John, I hope you found these suggestions helpful. I wish you the best as you plan your proposal and I hope all goes well! Please return again if you have any more questions!

    Have a Magical Day!

Meet the Panelist: Al, California

Ahoy there from the heart of Steinbeck Country in central California! I've been visiting the Disneyland Resort since childhood and fell in love with the sense of absolute immersion that the Imagineers have achieved. My favorite attraction is Pirates of the Caribbean because where else can you go from a California day to an evening boat ride in the bayou with "salty old pirates"? I'm a veterinarian and an all-around Disney geek and enthusiast. I'd love to help you plan your next Disneyland trip! Learn More About Al
