Hi Tristan,
Welcome to planDisney and congratulations on your upcoming proposal plans! I can't think of a better place to start happily ever after with your girlfriend than at
Magic Kingdom Park during
Happily Ever After fireworks. This is my all-time favorite evening spectacular and the music makes me tear up each time I watch it. I bet that happy tears will be flowing for both of you along with anyone who happens to catch your special moment during the show.
Disney PhotoPass photographers typically clear Main Street, U.S.A. as crowds thicken and the show is set to begin. In my experience, they usually start snapping those magical photo memories again once the crowds begin to disperse about 15 minutes or so after the show. I don't think you'll be able to find one front and center during the show, but I have seen photographers in Fantasyland behind the castle on a few occasions. If you'd like to catch the show from that vantage point you may be able to position yourself strategically near Cinderella Castle Wall by Pinocchio Village Haus straight back from
Prince Charming Regal Carrousel.
You'll also usually find a PhotoPass photographer with
Rapunzel's Lantern as a photo prop (weather permitting) near the Tangled restrooms right next to the entrance to "it's a small world." I've watched the fireworks from both spots and it's still a magical view even without being able to see the incredible projections on Cinderella Castle. You'll also have more space to get down on one knee in the areas behind the castle versus the areas within the hub on Main Street, U.S.A.
You might also consider booking a private
Capture Your Moment photo session at Magic Kingdom Park earlier that day. These 20-minute sessions will give you ample time to strike a pose together and ask that very important question as a specially trained Cast Member captures your memories. These sessions can be booked
60 days in advance for an additional fee and will require the purchase of
Memory Maker to download the images after the session. I looked ahead at the availability on your preferred date and there are sessions available at the time of my writing. These are typically offered between 8:30 a.m. and 4:15 p.m. most days, so though you won't be able to time them to coordinate with the fireworks, you might change your timing or use this session to celebrate the happy occasion the following day. You should also be able to request themed photo props for the occasion when you check in.
When I visit the parks, I love catching other guests in surprise moments like these. Anytime I see a proposal happening nearby I try to snap a picture or two to share with the happy couple right after, whenever possible. I can't guarantee that those around you will want to do the same, but I'm hopeful someone nearby will be feeling the love and magic during your big moment.
Tristan, I hope this gives you some helpful ideas. If we can answer any additional questions please come back and let us know.
Reach out and find your happily ever after!
Amy
