I still in the process of searching but thought this would be an easier way to get the answer. Cruise casual for boys is no shorts? I take that to mean cargo shorts with a collared shirts are not acceptable?

Hi Tracy, welcome aboard! You must be planning an exciting sailing aboard one of Disney's magical ships. Planning is part of the fun, so I hope you are enjoying getting to know all that Disney Cruise Line has to offer onboard!

Disney asks that even on Cruise Casual nights, guests refrain from wearing shorts, jeans, flip flops or beach/pool wear to the main dining restaurants. That being said, a very young boy (think six and under) could get away with wearing dressy khaki shorts and a nice polo shirt. My little guy usually wears something like that at least once on Cruise Casual nights. However, we do bring a pair of long khakis which he wears more often, again with a polo shirt for Cruise Casual attire nights.

Since it's casual all over the rest of the ship throughout the day, you'll have quite a bit of time to wear those shorts, but it's nice to dress up just a bit more for dinners. (Plus it makes for some nice family photos!) But, if one night your family wants to keep those swim suits on and hang out, there are some great quick service food options on the pool deck, no dress code required!

Depending on the length of your sailing, you might have a Formal Night and Semi-Formal night too (on most sailings of six nights or longer). Shorter sailings have only a Semi-Formal night or an optional dress-up night. So, pack a dressier outfit for some nice pictures with the Disney characters in their formal wear on those nights. For these dressier evenings, my five year old son wears dress pants (or nice khakis) with a button down dress shirt (sometimes with a tie and/or jacket, depending on how formal we want to go).

I hope that helps give you an idea of dress on the ships for the little guys, Tracy. Feel free to stop back with any other questions you might have as I'm happy to help!
