Hi, Laurel!
Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel.
Disney's Port Orleans Riverside is one of my family's favorite resorts. You are going to be delighted by your stay in a Royal Guest Room! The beautiful decor and all the little details really make you feel as if you've been personally invited by Princess Tiana and her royal friends.
The
Royal Guest Rooms are located in two of the mansion buildings in the Riverside section of Port Orleans:
Oak Manor (Building 95) and
Parterre Place (Building 90). Both buildings are about the same walking distance to the main resort building with dining and shopping. However, Oak Manor is closer to the Ol' Man Island feature swimming area as well as to the East Depot for bus transportation. Personally, I prefer Parterre Place because I like the layout of the courtyard with its quiet, serene ambiance and proximity to Port Orleans French Quarter for beignets in the morning (or any time of day!).
The fiber optics on the headboards can be turned on and off by pushing the secret button on the panel. I wondered the very same thing when I first stayed in a Royal Guest Room. I was afraid that my daughter would be up all night fascinated by the fireworks display!
Enjoy your stay as a Guest of Princess Tiana and have fun searching for
Hidden Mickeys throughout your room! You never know where you may spot them!
If I can answer any other questions about Port Orleans Riverside or any other aspect of planning your vacation, just write me back directly and I'd be happy to help.
