Hi Kim, and welcome to planDisney! I absolutely love the
Disney Princess Half Marathon since the race usually goes down Main Street, U.S.A., and through Cinderella Castle. Now, let’s figure out how you can get into that Belle-themed challenge!
Occasionally, additional spots for sold-out runDisney races do become available again. And when they do, they disappear faster than lightspeed. But as Han Solo says, never tell me the odds! I’d recommend checking the
Princess Half Marathon website periodically, just in case. There are also unofficial notification accounts that will let you know if more bibs become available, which you can find by doing an internet search for runDisney alerts.
If spots for the
Disney Fairytale Challenge open up, there is a way to upgrade your Half Marathon registration. You’ll pay the difference in the registration price plus a transfer fee. To do this, go to the runDisney website and click Manage Account under the Help & Support drop-down menu. Go to Upcoming Events and click Edit Registration next to the race you’d like to upgrade. In the bottom right corner, click the arrow next to Registration Options and select Switch Categories. Any available races to upgrade will appear here.
As you start preparing for the Princess Half Marathon Weekend, be sure to check out the
Training Programs on the runDisney website. I’ve used these to get ready for many races and even my first marathon! I also love a good post-race meal, so I’d recommend making your dining reservations
as soon as your booking window opens. Brunch and dinner reservations are popular during race weekends, so those meal times can get booked quickly. Some of my favorite post-race meals include
‘Ohana at the
Polynesian and
Wine Bar George and
Homecomin’ at
Disney Springs. Some Disney Springs restaurants and stores even give race participants discounts by showing your medal or bib. You’ll find that information in the Digital Expo & Event Guide which usually comes out a week or two before the races.
I’m wishing on a star that you’re able to upgrade to the Disney Fairytale Challenge. And don’t forget, every mile is magic, even during those last winter long runs! If you have any other questions, you’re always welcome back at planDisney.
