Hi, Aimee! Welcome back to the Disney Parks Moms Panel and thanks so much for stopping by with your question. Walt Disney World Resort is constantly refreshing and even reimagining their resorts. I have stayed in a few of the resorts that have converted their flooring and, I have to say, I do love the hardwood-style flooring! We were please to find them in our room at Disney's Port Orleans Resort - French Quarter last year. The building we were in had just completed a full refurbishment, from top to bottom it seemed!
Disney's Port Orleans Resort - Riverside is also undergoing a "soft goods" refurbishment at this time. This usually involves linens, draperies, and such decorative touches. The one being done at Riverside will be in progress for a while, so you may find that your room will be just as magical as it was when you last visited. If you prefer to have an updated room for your next visit, then I encourage you to check for availability at
Disney's Port Orleans Resort - French Quarter. While I do adore both resorts, I actually prefer French Quarter to Riverside for its small resort size. All resort amenities, from the pool to the food court, are just a short walk away from any resort room. There is also only one bus stop, making travel to and from the parks super simple. Since you are looking at the Preferred rooms at Riverside, these are also very centrally located at that resort. Your choice will basically be how much you desire a different type of room since your last visit to Disney's Port Orleans Resort.
Thanks so much for stopping by and please let us know if you have any other questions!
