Hi, Jason! Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel.
When I was little, I learned to spell “dessert” because it had two “S”es in the middle for “Simply Scrumptious.” And desserts at
Walt Disney World Resort are indeed
simply scrumptious.
As far as obtaining a dessert from a table-service restaurant without a reservation is concerned, though, I’m afraid that’s a no-go. If you have your heart set on one of
The Plaza Restaurant’s specialty milkshakes at
Magic Kingdom Park, you will need to make a reservation to enjoy one. I think it’s totally worth it, though! Just let your server know that you’ll just want to see the dessert menu and you should be in and out in less than 30 minutes. Schedule your reservation in the late afternoon (after lunch and before dinner) and let your dessert break serve as a chance for you to relax and recharge for the rest of the day.
Other awesome milkshake options that don’t require a reservation include the
Tune-In Lounge (adjacent to the
50’s Prime Time Cafe) at
Disney’s Hollywood Studios,
The Fountain at the
Walt Disney World Dolphin Hotel near
Epcot and
D-Luxe Burger at
Disney Springs. One of my family’s favorites is the walk-up window at
Beaches & Cream Soda Shop, but while they’re in their temporary location at
Disney’s Beach Club Resort, they are unable to make milkshakes. You can still get hand-scooped ice cream and sundaes, though! Ice cream and sundaes are also available at the
Plaza Ice Cream Parlor in Magic Kingdom Park, too.
Hopefully one of these options will satisfy your sweet tooth, Jason! Please let us know if there are any additional questions we can answer for you in the meantime.
