Hey there, Andrew! Welcome to planDisney. I am so glad to hear your wife secured the
future cruise offer (a placeholder) on her last
Disney Cruise Line vacation. I love this offer. Knowing another cruise is in my future makes leaving the ship on the last day a little easier. And a discount! It's like I'm saving money by going on a cruise. That's what my husband calls my "Disney Math."
Placeholders are ideal because they can be used for discounted rates on most cruises within 24 months. The amount you pay will be applied to your reservation or refunded if you don't use it. Truly, Hakuna Matata!
Unfortunately, this offer is only for new reservations and cannot be applied to an existing one. One option may be to
call Disney Cruise Line and book the same itinerary with the placeholder applied. Your wife can look up the placeholder reservation number by logging into "
My Cruise History and Folio" under "Already Booked." Cast Members should also be able to find it with her account information. Once the new itinerary is set, you can cancel the current reservation. I would ask the Cast Member to review the current rate with the placeholder to make sure it is a lower price before canceling. You could also use "
Find A Cruise" to see the current availability and rates for your current cruise to get a sense before calling.
Andrew, I know this is likely not as simple as you hoped. But there are options to apply the offer. Once you are all set, be sure to download the
Disney Cruise Line Navigator app. It has many useful functions to help you plan your cruise. Once on board and connected to DCL Wi-Fi (Disney Cruise Line's Wi-Fi system), the app activates "cruise mode" and unlocks new features for your time on the ship.
