    Is it possible to take a taxi or bus on your own to the beaches in St. Maarten? Or is it safer to do a Port Adventure?

    St. Maarten is one of my favorite ports of call and I'm sure you will see why when you venture ashore!  You can take a taxi to one of the beaches on the island, but be sure to leave plenty of time for your return trip back to the ship.  The traffic on the island can be very heavy during any time of the day!  If you want to play it safe and book a DCL Port Adventure I would recommend the French Riviera Beach Rendezvous.  Lunch, two drinks, and a reserved chair are included so the price is very reasonable when you add in transportation to and from the ship.  The biggest advantage is that it is worry-free since it is a DCL sponsored adventure,
