You’re as welcome as can be at planDisney, Kathy!
I love the Park Hopper Option! It’s nice to be able to begin my day strolling along Main Street, U.S.A. in Magic Kingdom Park and end it exploring Pandora - The World of Avatar at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Park! First, let me start by explaining what the
Park Hopper Option is and how it works currently.
Guests who have purchased a ticket with the Park Hopper Option will be able to visit more than one park per day starting at 2 PM. Guests would have to make a Disney Park Pass reservation for the first park of their choice and enter it before park hopping to the next park. A Disney Park Pass reservation is not required for the second park the Guest wishes to park hop to.
Since your current reservations are for Magic Kingdom Park, you would begin your day there, and once it’s 2 PM, you will be able to enter Disney’s Animal Kingdom Park as long as it’s available. I will add, I’ve park hopped quite a bit and have never had trouble park hopping to any theme parks. If you go into your
My Disney Experience Mobile app and click on the three horizontal lines at the bottom right of your screen, it will take you to a page where you will find “Park Hours & Info.” Click on that to see the park hours, including Park Hopper Hours.
Let’s discuss how you would get from Magic Kingdom Park to Disney’s Animal Kingdom Park should you choose to keep your current reservations! Park to Park buses begin running at 2:00 PM, so once you leave Magic Kingdom Park, you will want to look for signs that point you to the buses going to Disney’s Animal Kingdom Park.
Pro tip: If the line is too long at
Avatar Flight of Passage midday, try riding it towards the end of the evening before the park closes. It gets less crowded, and seeing Pandora at night is an incredibly magical experience!
Now, if you’d like to change your reservations from Magic Kingdom Park to Disney’s Animal Kingdom, you would first need to check the
Theme Park Reservation Availability Calendar. If Disney’s Animal Kingdom shows availability, you will first have to cancel your current Magic Kingdom Park reservation and then make new ones for Disney’s Animal Kingdom.
I checked the calendar for you, and currently, only EPCOT is showing availability; however, you can keep checking back as people change their plans frequently.
If you do find availability, to cancel your current reservation, head to the
Walt Disney World Resort website, hover over the My Disney Experience logo on the top-right, and select “My Plans.” Scroll down until you find your reservation you made for Magic Kingdom Park and click on “View Details” and then “Cancel this reservation.” This will take you to a page to choose who in your party would like to keep the reservation and who would like to be removed from it. Once you have canceled your current park pass, you can head to
Disney Parks Pass reservations to make your new one for Disney’s Animal Kingdom.
I hope you have an enchanting time, Kathy!
