    Is it possible to purchase an appetizer even if you are on the Basic Dining Plan?

    The dining plan rules simply state which items are included in the plan. You can always purchase additional items separately. For example, alcoholic beverages are not included on most versions of the dining plan, but you could order a glass of wine with your dinner and just pay for that item. So yes, if you want to buy an appetizer, you are certainly welcome to do so.
