Hi there, Loryn! Thanks so much for sending your question to planDisney. We’re thrilled to help you get ready for your magical stay at
Disney’s Port Orleans Resort – Riverside!
It sounds like you have a fun summertime getaway coming up, right along the riverbend! I absolutely love the laid-back charm of this resort. With the grand, mansion-style buildings in Magnolia Bend and the cozy cottages in Alligator Bayou, it truly feels like stepping into a romantic piece of Louisiana. Don’t forget to snap a selfie in front of the iconic waterwheel...it’s one of my favorite photo spots!
Now let’s talk hair care! I totally understand your dilemma. I have naturally wavy hair myself, and that Florida humidity can be a lot. Having the right tools makes all the difference, and saving space in your luggage means more room for souvenirs!
At Port Orleans – Riverside, you’ll find a full-size hair dryer, and it usually comes stored in a black bag and is placed either under the sink or near the closet in your room. When I stayed there last, it was a 1875W Andis Tourmaline Ionic Dryer. However, I double-checked with Guest Services today, and they let me know that Housekeeping is slowly transitioning to standard Conair Pro Dryers across all the Disney resorts. To play it safe, I recommend bringing a universal diffuser that fits most standard nozzles (typically 1.5–2.5 inches in diameter). Brands like DevaCurl or Conair make adjustable options that should work with whichever dryer your room is stocked with.
Once you are picture-perfect, you might want to check out the
River Roost Lounge in the evening! It’s the perfect spot to relax with a Louisiana-inspired cocktail and some tasty appetizers. And if you’re lucky enough to catch
Yehaa Bob Jackson performing, get ready for a knee-slapping, toe-tapping good time. He’s a fan favorite for a reason!
I hope this helps, Loryn! If you have any other questions as your trip gets closer, we’d be honored to help. Wishing you a magical (and fabulous hair day) vacation!
See ya real soon,
Eean
