Is it possible to own a dvc on a semi strict budget for one person and an opportunity to add points in the future without getting a loan?

Hi there, Dylan! Thanks so much for visiting planDisney with another excellent question. I'm so pleased that you chose to be our guest once again, and like Lumière I am here to be your host on this Disney Vacation Club adventure!

I think this is such an important question, as joining DVC is a major investment. When I talk to anyone about Membership, I encourage them to do as much homework as possible to understand the costs and (many) benefits and look at how Membership fits into their lifestyle so they can make an educated choice.

When my husband and I started bringing our girls to Walt Disney World Resort at very young ages, we knew early on that we wanted to join DVC, but it took a few years to pull the trigger. It was important to me that we purchase our Membership without taking on debt, so we planned our family finances accordingly so we could support the purchase. Waiting worked out beautifully in our case--when we were finally ready to join, we were able to select Disney's Polynesian Villas & Bungalows as our Home Resort. I think all of the DVC resorts are pretty amazing, but the Polynesian has my heart!

Dylan, keep in mind that the minimum number of Vacation Points needed to receive a Disney Vacation Club Membership Card is currently 150. If you work with one of the excellent DVC guides and are interested in choosing a Home Resort with a lower price per point, you can let them know this and they will reach out if points become available.  I highly recommend scheduling a virtual meeting or an in-person tour with a Cast Member so you can ask any questions and learn about the most up-to-date incentives for joining.

You can add points in the future at any time, and you can certainly purchase outright instead of financing your purchase with a loan. I hear from many Members that they get a case of "Add-On-Itis" once they join and keep accumulating points!

I hope this information is just what you need to help with your decision, Dylan! Please don't hesitate to stop by anytime to chat about all things DVC and Walt Disney World--I'm happy to assist. Thanks for visiting planDisney!
