My wife and I are dvc members and we want to celebrate our son’s 5th birthday at one of the resorts, can we invite friends and family to spend the day at the pool with us? If so, how many people are we allowed? Nothing crazy, but just want to know. Thanks!

Hi there, Francisco! Thanks for visiting planDisney. It’s a great day anytime I get to talk with a fellow Disney Vacation Club Member! Let’s chat about the rules for the pools at the DVC resorts.

I spoke to several Cast Members about the rules regarding day guests. Typically, Members may have guests visit them at their resort for the day–they will need to provide your name and reservation number at Security to be allowed into the resort. However, during especially busy times of year such as the December holidays, capacity may be limited. Security always has the final say about whether guests will be allowed.

Day guests should be allowed to join you at the pool. Again, this is at the discretion of the Cast Members and lifeguards at the pool, so guest access is not guaranteed. I’m not sure where you're staying, but it’s good to know that Disney’s Beach Club Resort and Disney’s Yacht Club Resort will most likely not allow day guests at Stormalong Bay at any time.  This pool complex shared by the two properties requires Guests to scan a MagicBand to verify that they are staying there and receive a wristband identifying them as registered Guests.

I was not able to get any specific number of day guests that are or aren’t allowed, Francisco. I would suggest keeping your party on the small side out of consideration for other Members using the pools, and perhaps booking a fun dinner for your birthday boy and pals at somewhere like Chef Mickey’s or Beaches & Cream Soda Shop to celebrate the big day! You can even order a birthday cake in advance to add some magic to the occasion.

Another fun birthday option could be a day at one of the Disney Water Parks! DVC Members currently enjoy a $25 discount on tickets to Disney’s Blizzard Beach and Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon. You can even reserve a private space for your group. At Typhoon Lagoon, the Beachcomber Shacks include towels, souvenir refillable mugs, and attendants on hand to take food and beverage orders for your group.

I hope this information is helpful, Francisco. Thanks again for paddling on over to planDisney, and please don’t hesitate to reach out again if we can help with additional questions. Wishing your Mouseketeer a magical birthday!
