Hi Anne Heidi, and welcome to planDisney! Going on a post-Marathon weekend cruise sounds like the practically perfect way to celebrate crossing the finish line. So, let’s talk about what to do with your luggage!
Bell Services at
Disney Resort hotels is intended for storing luggage on check-in and check-out days. For example, when you get to
Pop Century Resort after your cruise, you can leave your bags with Bell Services if your room isn’t ready yet. This makes it really easy to head to the theme parks or
Disney Springs without having to worry about your bags. Unfortunately, Bell Services isn’t able to store bags while you’re not staying at the resort hotel. As an alternative, there are many third-party luggage storage services in the Orlando area that you might be able to use (note that these companies aren’t affiliated with Disney). If you don’t have a rental car, some also have pick-up and delivery services. While I haven’t personally used any of them, this could be an option worth exploring.
If it helps with lighter packing, I wanted to make sure you knew that there are
self-service laundry locations with washers and dryers at both
Saratoga Springs Resort and Pop Century Resort. On longer trips, washing my clothes mid-vacation has really helped me stick to just carry-on luggage!
As you’re prepping for your trip, don’t forget to make any dining reservations you’d like as soon as your booking window opens. Brunch and dinner reservations are very popular during race weekends! Disney Resort hotel guests can start making those reservations
60 days before check-in for your entire length of stay (up to a 10-night stay).
‘Ohana at the
Polynesian and
Wine Bar George and
Homecomin’ at Disney Springs are a few of my favorite post-race meals. Some Disney Springs restaurants and stores even give race participants discounts, which would be really convenient for your marathon weekend stay, since you can take a
boat from Saratoga Springs Resort to Disney Springs. You’ll find information on discounts in the Digital Expo & Event Guide, which typically comes out a week or two before the races.
Safe travels, and I’m wishing you a magical Disney vacation by both land and sea! And if you have any other questions, don’t hesitate to visit us again at planDisney.
