Hi Jennifer! Thanks for bringing your question to planDisney.
I adore the relaxed vibe of
Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort! It feels a million miles away from the hustle and bustle of the theme parks. Guests are welcome to bring portable fire pits to their campsites, however, approved fire pits must be fully enclosed with a solid (not mesh) metal top "preventing an exposed flame and the releasing of embers or sparks". If you do a quick internet search for images with the keywords "Fort Wilderness approved fire pits" you will likely come across a flyer with a description of what is and is not allowed. Also be aware that based on conditions, from time to time a burn ban may be in place.
During your visit, be sure to stop by the beautiful new Tri-Circle-D Ranch Barn near the Settlement Depot. Not only will you be able to see some amazing horses (during my last visit I got a glimpse of Cinderella's beautiful white ponies!), but there are also some interesting exhibits showcasing the history of horses in Disney Parks.
Carriage Rides are also available near the barn.
Jennifer, I am wishing you a wonderful visit during
The World's Most Magical Celebration! Please visit us again with any additional questions you may have. Enjoy your stay!
