Hi Jessica! Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel. I am thrilled you stopped by to ask a question about the fabulous Resorts at Walt Disney World. I am happy to share my experiences with you. I also have a family of five and we have stayed at both
Disney's Port Orleans Resort-Riverside and
Disney's Art of Animation Resort. Both Resorts are amazing and you couldn't go wrong if you chose either, but I hope I can help you make a decision between the two.
My family of 5 loved Disney's Port Orleans Resort-Riverside when my kids were smaller. The pull down trundle bed is the perfect size for your 5 and 6 year olds and I am sure they will argue just like mine over who will get to sleep on it. This being your first time at Walt Disney World I know you will want to be exploring and won't be in the room much anyways. I say save the extra money and use it to experience Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique or The Pirates League.
The Art of Animation Family Suites are great for when your kids have grown and need more space to spread out. Having a preteen and growing boys we need the extra bathroom now. The theme will not go out of style for your kids, my 12 year old daughter still walks around the Resort taking picture with the larger than life character icons. I say save Disney's Art of Animation for when they get a little older. These rooms come with a small fridge, microwave, coffee maker and have plastic utensils and paper products for use, while Disney's Port Orleans Resort-Riverside only has a fridge and coffee maker.
I hope this has helped you make a decision. If you have any other questions, please don't hesitate to ask. We love lending a helping hand to fellow Guests.
Dream as Dreamers Do,
Jen
