Ahoy and welcome to planDisney, Martha! Alaska on the Disney Wonder is one of my family's favorite vacations ever. Take the magic of a Disney Cruise and add the adventure of an American safari, even our high hopes paled in comparison to the experience and the memories.
The coldest I have ever been on a Disney Cruise was getting off Twist 'n' Spout and running to get a towel aboard the
Disney Wonder. That said, I was surprised by how warm the weather was in Alaska. When the ship was cruising at high speed, being wet from the slide was quite chilly. In Juneau, locals were walking around in swimwear and flip-flops. But no worries. If it is warm, the pools are refreshingly cool. If it does get cold, the pools are heated to make it more comfortable.
One of the things I appreciated so much on our
Alaska cruise was the educational opportunities. The first lecture I went to, I went alone. When I caught up with my family after and shared some of what I had learned, they lamented not going. Lectures were not their idea of summer vacation fun but they were wrong, and they went with me every other time. Having naturalists on board made what we were seeing in nature so much more impactful. Each day was like a mind-opening interaction with our beautiful natural world. Things I have only seen in books and on television... out in the wild. It was truly wild.
If you have any other questions as you plan your adventure to Alaska, please come back to

Bon Voyage!
