Aloha, Marcus! On a cold winter day, it's hard not to daydream about the swaying palms and tropical atmosphere at
Disney's Polynesian Village Resort. This oasis has plenty of nostalgia as one of the original Walt Disney World Resort hotels, but the rooms have received a fresh Moana update. I'm excited that you are planning to stay here soon!
I still mourn the passing of longtime Cast Member Aunty Kau'i, who made countess handmade leis and gave hula lessons at the Polynesian since 1971. However, I am happy to report that guests of the resort still receive leis at check-in. If you have opted to do
Online Check-in through the
My Disney Experience app, then make sure to stop by the front desk to pick them up. We all wore our leis recently when we ate at
'Ohana, which made for a great photo opportunity while standing amongst the smiling tikis and tropical greenery.
While staying here, we also saw guests making their own Kukui Nut Lei in the resort's lobby. The Walt Disney World Resort hotels offer themed activities for the entire family, such as campfires, movie nights, Mickey tie-dying, pool parties, and apparently lei-making!
Resort Activities at Disney's Polynesian Village Resort vary from month to month and day to day. There are signs posted with a detailed schedule in various locations throughout the resort; perfect for those downtimes when you need a park break!
I hope you have a magical stay, Marcus! A hui hou, or as Mickey likes to say, see ya real soon!
