Hi Cheryl,
Welcome to planDisney! I am so sorry that you are having to consider canceling your upcoming trip to Disney World. I am sure that you are already super disappointed, so hopefully, there is an option that works for you, and you get to come back real soon. There are separate cancellation policies depending on how you booked your initial vacation. If you still have the confirmation email, it should outline the policy that your booking is subject to.
I spoke with a cast member to confirm the policy for Room-Only reservations. If you booked a
Disney Resort hotel Room-Only reservation, the Resort cancellation can be made up to 5 days in advance of your stay for a full refund including the initial deposit that was paid. For cancellations made 0-4 days before vacation begins, you will lose the cost of a one-night stay which is typically also the price of the deposit you paid.
If you booked a
2024 Disney World Package, you can cancel 30 days or more before your arrival for a full refund minus any cancellation fees. These cancellation fees are normally only an issue if you use a third party to book your vacation. If you cancel 2 days to 29 days before your arrival you can receive a refund minus a cancellation fee of $200 per package plus any third-party cancellation fees you are subject to. If you cancel 1 day or less before arrival, your package is nonrefundable.
Once you finalize the difficult decision to cancel your upcoming reservation, the cancellation can be done directly in your
My Disney Experience account. If you prefer to cancel your reservation over the phone, you can call
Disney Resort Hotel Reservations for assistance with any changes. They are super helpful and can also work with you on rebooking your vacation if you have some alternative dates in mind.
Happy Planning,
Jenna
