Hi, Can you please tell me about the Ft wilderness wagon ride (not sleigh). Wondering if it goes through the campground loops allowing us to see all the holiday decorations. Is it similar route as the sleigh? What about chip & dale sing along? Thanks

Howdy, April, and welcome back to planDisney! Fort Wilderness is such a special place to stay—a relaxing oasis that’s just a short boat ride away from Magic Kingdom. It’s one of my favorite spots at Disney World, so let's chat about doing one of the horse-drawn excursions.

In December, there are two different 25-minute horse-drawn excursions running at Fort Wilderness, the group Wagon Rides and the private Holiday Sleigh Rides. Both typically go through a few of the campground loops, though the exact route can vary. This time of year, many guests go all out decorating their campsites with holiday decorations, so it’s an extra magical time to do the horse-drawn excursions!

There are a few key differences between the two rides. The Holiday Sleigh Ride is a more intimate experience, since it’s just for your party. You’ll also need to book in advance since it’s so popular. The sleigh ride runs on most days in December, starting from the Tri-Circle-D Ranch barn near the Settlement Bus Depot.  The Wagon Ride is a fun group experience where you’ll explore the campground with other guests, and you don’t need to make advance reservations. Currently, it only runs on the weekends—Friday, Saturday, and Sunday evenings at 6:00 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. The ride leaves from Pioneer Hall, and I recommend getting there early since the experience is first-come, first-served.

Whichever ride you choose, be sure to stop by Tri-Circle-D Ranch to meet the horses and check out their holiday decorations. This is where the horses live that you can see in Mickey’s Once Upon a Christmastime Parade!

Now, let’s chat about Chip ’n’ Dale’s Campfire Sing-A-Long, one of my favorite activities at Fort Wilderness. It usually runs every night in the evening, but you can check the Disney World website or the My Disney Experience app for the current schedule. You’re sure to have a roaring good time singing and dancing with our favorite mischievous chipmunks! And if you’re not quite ready for bed yet, there’s usually a movie that plays afterwards in the campfire area.

I hope you have a magical visit to Fort Wilderness next month! And if you have any other questions, you’re always welcome at planDisney.
