Welcome to planDisney, Maryn!
I know the eerie excitement that builds every year as Haunted Mansion transforms into
Haunted Mansion Holiday. It’s like watching a pumpkin patch spring to life overnight! I’m thrilled to help make sure your visit is full of happy haunts, no matter when you creep on over.
While Madame Leota’s crystal ball hasn’t yet revealed the exact date the Haunted Mansion will close for its ghoulish glow-up, we do know that Jack Skellington and the rest of the crew from Halloween Town will make their grand (and slightly chaotic) entrance on August 22nd. This spook-tacular mashup of holidays is what happens when Halloween crashes Christmas; expect spooky stockings, and a few frightfully fun surprises lurking in the halls. Haunted Mansion Holiday will keep the seasonal shenanigans going until January 7, 2026, so there’s plenty of time to hitch a ride with a ghostly guide. Keep an eye on the Disney Parks Blog for all the latest tidbits about when the mansion will temporarily close to get its haunting holiday makeover.
But wait! There’s more magic brewing! August 22nd also kicks off Halloween Time at the Disneyland Resort, when the whole resort dons its pumpkin-spiced finest and even the happiest haunts come out to play. Besides Haunted Mansion Holiday, you’ll find a whole cauldron of frightful fun bubbling up across the parks. Over in Cars Land, Mater’s Junkyard Jamboree gets a haunted tune-up and transforms into
Mater’s Graveyard JamBOOree, where Mater hosts a hoedown fit for ghosts, ghouls, and gearheads alike. Not to be outdone, Luigi and his cousins spin their way into the spooky spirit with
Luigi’s Honkin’ Haul-O-Ween, complete with monster mash melodies. And if you’re up for some high-octane Halloween thrills,
Guardians of the Galaxy – Monsters After Dark is your ticket to a monstrously good time as you help Rocket rescue Groot from the creepy creatures that are crawling through the Collector’s Tower. Every ride is a scream, and you’ll want to experience them all!
Now, for the ultimate treat (no tricks here!) If you want to sprinkle even more pumpkin-spiced pixie dust on your visit, I highly recommend
Oogie Boogie Bash on select nights in August, September, and October. This after-hours Halloween party is packed with ghoulish goodies, including immersive treat trails, wickedly wonderful entertainment, villain sightings galore, and spellbinding surprises hiding around every cobwebbed corner. My wife and I have made it a not-so-scary annual tradition, and we cackle with glee every time we attend. There’s nothing quite like strolling through Disney California Adventure while mischievous villains are out for a spooky selfie or two. Tickets will go on sale later this year, so be sure to keep an eye on the Disney Parks Blog. You wouldn’t want to miss out and end up on Oogie Boogie’s naughty list!
I hope all these tips help you conjure up the perfect visit, Maryn! If you have any other questions, just summon us here at planDisney again. We love helping fellow fans scare up some fun.
Wishing you pumpkins full of treats and just the right amount of tricks!
