Hi Rick, and welcome to planDisney! It sounds like you’re going down the bayou and headed to
Port Orleans French Quarter very soon. So let’s chat about transportation!
One of the things I love about Port Orleans French Quarter is that it’s got a pretty small footprint, so you’re never that far from the
buses and
boats. Booking a Preferred Location room will put you in buildings 2, 3, 4, or 5, which are closest to
Sassagoula Floatworks and Food Factory,
Scat Cat’s Club, the
gift shop, all of the transportation options, and the pool. Building 4 is closest to the bus stop, and Building 2 is closest to the boat dock.
You can take the boat to
Port Orleans Riverside and Disney Springs, where you’ll find lots more shopping and dining options. You also have access to the pools at Port Orleans Riverside if you want to switch things up. When I'm staying at French Quarter, I like to walk along the river to Riverside to enjoy a hearty meal at
Boatwright’s Dining Hall or sing along with
Yehaa Bob Jackson at River Roost Lounge in the evening. To get to the theme parks and water parks, you’ll need to hop on a bus.
Since you’re a
Disney Resort hotel guest, there are a lot of
perks you can take advantage of, and I didn’t want you to miss any of them! You should already be able to book reservations for
dining and
Enchanting Extras, which you can do 60 days ahead of check-in for your entire stay (up to a 10-night stay). And if you’re planning to buy
Lightning Lane Passes, you’ll be able to do that seven days before check-in for your whole stay (up to 14 days). This can really help with snagging popular Lightning Lane selections, like
Tiana’s Bayou Adventure!
And when you’re at Disney World, you’ll have access to
Early Theme Park Entry, giving you an extra 30 minutes before regular park opening every morning!
I hope you have the best stay ever at Port Orleans French Quarter, and be sure to stop by Scat Cat Cafe to have a beignet for me! If you have any other questions, we’d love to have you back at planDisney.
