Hi Cliff, and welcome to planDisney. It sounds like the water is calling! So get ready to channel your inner Moana, because renting a pontoon boat is such a fun way to explore Bay Lake and Seven Seas Lagoon! It’s also really cool to see Magic Kingdom from a different angle. So let’s chat about all the details for your adventure ahead.
Information on pricing and locations can be found on the
Motorized Boat Rental page. Currently, the cost is $49 per half-hour, and if you’re looking to explore the waterways around Magic Kingdom, you can rent from the marinas at the
Contemporary or the
Grand Floridian. From either location, you’ll typically be able to drive the boat around both Bay Lake and Seven Seas Lagoon. To get between the two, you'll navigate the boat over a unique water bridge that goes over World Drive. It’s one of my favorite parts of the experience!
To rent a boat, just visit one of the marinas since there aren’t advance reservations. You’ll need at least one driver who is 18 years of age or older. And don’t forget to bring a valid driver’s license, state-issued ID, or military ID.
Before you head over to the marina, I’d recommend looking at the resort hotel activity schedules to double-check the operating hours. They can be found on the Recreation pages for the
Contemporary and the
Grand Floridian.
The boats are available on a first-come, first-served basis, so I like to go right when they open or in the late afternoon when it's usually less busy. Just don't go too close to closing!
Last time I rented a pontoon boat with my friends, we were able to bring snacks and non-alcoholic drinks on board. The quick service eateries, like
Gasparilla Island Grill and
Contempo Cafe, are great for picking up any last-minute provisions!
The boats also have a Bluetooth speaker, so get ready to blast “How Far I’ll Go” from your phone!
I hope you have the best adventure ever on those magical waterways. And if you have any other questions, we’d love to have you back at planDisney.
