Hello, Is the play area at castaway cay in the deep section of the water/will my 3 year old be able to enjoy the water structure out there or will he need to know how to swim without a life jacket

    Ahoy Lauren!

So nice to "sea" you here again at planDisney. I'm excited that you'll be visiting Disney Castaway Cay soon. This gorgeous island is one of my family's happy places and we try to soak up the sea breezes and sunshine there are often as possible.

My children have recently become more adventurous and love tackling the slides at Pelican Plunge. This 2,400 square foot floating platform and play area features 2 twisting water slides and a giant dump bucket sure to cool you down just as much as it's sure to delight. Pelican Plunge is a short swim out from the Family Beach, but in order to take the plunge guests must be 38 inches tall. Life vests are required for those between 38-48 inches in height, but there are also plenty of sizes available for adults that want a little extra help making the swim. Based on your little sailor's age I recommend accompanying him out to the platform if he's tall enough to enjoy the slides.

Have no fear if your little guppy doesn't quite measure up on this voyage. There is so much to enjoy on Castaway Cay I'm confident you'll be able to fill an entire day with excitement. You'll be able to splash along the sandy shores together, enjoy a delicious soft-serve ice cream (or two or three), and build sandcastles under the shade of a palm tree. When you want a change of scenery, I'd recommend a visit to Monstro Point- a dig site for kids aged 3-10 that parents are welcome to enjoy alongside their paleontologists in training. If your little sailor wants to cool off, Spring-A-Leak is another fantastic option with misters, dripping pipes, a splash pad, and even some shade when you need a break from the sun. You'll be able to splash together or relax while your adventurer soaks up the fun!

Before you set sail back home be sure to consider booking another Disney Cruise Line adventure, because everyone knows the best way to beat post-vacation blues is to book another one as soon as possible! Lighthouse Point is a brand-new destination that will be available for guests to enjoy beginning summer of 2024. I'm already excited to learn more about the variety of experiences this new tropical paradise will offer for kids, families, and adults.

I hope this helps Lauren! If I can offer any other guidance please don't hesitate to reach out again. We'd love to help make your cruise as magical as can be for your entire family.

    "Sea" you real soon!
