Hi there, Amy! Walt Disney World Resort has really stepped up its game when it comes to
plant-based cuisine. I have a sweet friend, also named
Amy, who has encouraged me to let go of my carnivore tendencies and to try some of the delicious new vegan offerings. My favorite dish is the Felucian Garden Spread available at
Docking Bay 7 Food and Cargo at Black Spire Outpost. Next on my list to try are the Vegan Fish and Chips (which are a secret menu item) featuring fried Gardein fishless fillets at
Rose & Crown Dining Room!
I've heard rave reviews about the food at
Primo Piatto, and I got to take a sneak peek of the restaurant during my tour of
Disney's Riveria Resort. I love that Guests can watch their dishes being prepared in the open concept kitchen, where the chefs are hard at work. Since this is a fast-casual concept restaurant, you're given an RFID buzzer, so your food can find you; the dishes are made to order and arrive at your table within 10-15 minutes. The Farm-Fresh Artisanal Pizza is piled high with veggies, including eggplant, red onion, roasted tomato, carrot top pesto, and arugula. If you like, you can also have it with plant-based mozzarella (Daiya). Like most Disney owned restaurants, Primo Piatto does carry an allergy-friendly lunch and dinner menu. I called Guest Services, and while they did not have an ingredient list for the pizza, it did not appear to be gluten-friendly, which leads me to believe that it has a traditional flour crust. The Cast Member I spoke to heard that Primo Piatto also uses Udi's pizza shells, so I would inquire when you get there if you can substitute this for the crust. From the reviews I've heard, this Quick Service eatery outshines many Table Service restaurants, so I am optimistic that your experience will be magical!
Amy, if you plan on riding the
Disney Skyliner to get here, make sure to take some photos of the resort's walkway tunnel, where two
spectacular mosaic murals are featured! See ya' real soon!
