Planning our 1st WDW trip June 6-13, 2012. DH, 2 DS and self wanting to stay at all star sports. wondering if we need to get park hop or if just reg. tickets would be better. how much time would we spend on a bus or boat actually "park hopping"

To be honest, park hopper tickets are one of the first ways I recommend a family trim their vacation budget. Don't get me wrong, the ability to move from one park to another is nice, but it's far from a requirement. We rarely bother to add this option ourselves, preferring to plan our days so that a park hopper isn't necessary. I'd personally rather spend those vacation dollars on a nicer resort, or another meal. Plus as you said, a lot of time is lost while you're doing those transfers, and that park time is valuable!

A successful trip without park hoppers just takes a little more planning. You'll need to visit the park calendar page to note the extra magic hours, parade and show times, and other special events you may need to plan around. From there, map out which park you'll be in on which day, and then make your dining reservations accordingly. You'll need to book a meal either inside that park, or at a resort where no admission fee is required.

    Good luck!
