I am planning a WDW trip for my family of ten (2 adults 8 children) our plans are to go Aug/2012. How do we stay on the resort when we are on an extreme budget?

It is definitely possible to do Disney on a tight budget. Kudos to you for being ready to make it work!

My first recommendation would be to contact a travel agent that specializes in Disney vacations. You really need a Disney expert to help you here, because they will know how to find you the very best deals. I personally use The Mouse Your Way Travel, but there are others as well. My agent will book me the best possible deal at that time, and then continue to look for better prices even after I've booked. He recently contacted me to tell me that I could save a few hundred dollars by switching to a comparable resort!

Another good tip is to visit when free dining is being offered. We take advantage of this every fall, but it is offered at other times throughout the year as well. Having all of your meals paid for is a HUGE savings!

Look at the Value resorts for the most bang for your buck. The ages of your children will come into play here, and you'll need more than one room, but this will still be significantly cheaper than staying in a villa. If you're outdoorsy types, you could save a real bundle by camping! Disney's Ft. Wilderness Resort will allow your group of 10 to camp there for as little as $46 per night!

Skip the park hopper tickets. It's a nice feature, but certainly not necessary to have a great vacation, and you'll save a good bit of money by declining this option.

Pack your own breakfast foods! We like to bring granola, cereal, pop tarts, and other breakfast foods and snacks with us. This can save you a lot of money as it's one less meal to worry about each day.

Finally, look for creative ways to save money at home. I've answered questions from guests who recycled soda cans to finance their vacation! Where there's a will there's a way.

    Good luck!
