planning on visiting late Aug 09 would it be better to book pkg now or just resort room and add tickets and DDP later. Was the DP plan free in late Aug this year? do most of you do the pkgs or buy everything seperate? Thanks for all the great advice!!

    Hi Tia,

I am a member of the Disney Vacation Club so most of my vacations in Disney World are through my timeshare. However, when I am not using my timeshare, I will book vacations like other guests staying at the Walt Disney World Resorts.

This being said I have gone the package route, and I have purchased every component separately. Each time it was based on saving me the most money and not about whether it was a package or components.

If I were planning a vacation of August 2009, I would first determine which resort I was going to stay at for my trip. Then I would see how much a resort only, resort and tickets or package would cost me. I would also call and speak to a Disney Castmember to see if they have any specials which are not published. I would then book the least expensive option.

Next, I would watch the emails from Mousesavers.com and Allearsnet.com as well as other travel websites to see if any offers become available during my stay. If so, I would call Disney and see if I could book my trip with the new promotion. In general as long as there is availability during the promotion period, Disney will rebook you at a lower price or include the promotional item such as free dining. This way you have the resort you would like, for the dates you need and then you have the extra savings.

In the past, Disney has offered free dining during the end of the summer. However, there is no guarantee that they will offer this promotion in the future.

    Have a great trip!
