Planning on visiting Hollywood studios on Thanksgiving. Traveling with a 12yr old. Have any suggestions where to go for a sit down dinner?? and how does the Fantantic fireworks show & dinner show work??

    Hi Valerie,

What a perfect place to celebrate Thanksgiving, Disney World. We have celebrated a number of them there ourselves.

I would assume you are looking at dining at Hollywood Studios on Thanksgiving. Our favorite table service restaurants there are:
    1. Hollywood Brown Derby which is styled after old school Hollywood and home to the classic Cobb salad. The menu often offers filets, fresh fish and chicken or duck. The restaraunt is slightly more formal than other locations so it may not be for restless kids.
    2. Sci-Fi Dine In theater. The menu offers hot and cold sandwiches, burgers, and ribs. The food is very good but the atmosphere is why we continue to come back. Most guests dine in tables designed to look like 1950's convertibles. You are seated under a night sky at your local drive in. There is a running loop of clips of cheesy sci fi movies and cartoons. Fun, fun, fun!
    3. Mama Melrose's is a quirky Italian restaraunt with an open warehouse feel to it. The menu offers filet, pasta, veal and delicious flatbreads. The food is great and the setting is very family friendly.

The Fantasmic dinner package offers guests the opportunity to dine at select restaurants (Brown Derby, Mama Melrose's and Hollywood and Vine), and then receive a special entry ticket to reserved seating at the Fantasmic show. Individual seats at the show are not reserved but you will have access to a portion of seats that are reserved for dinner package guests only. The seats are still filled on a first come basis.

My first choice given your son's age, would be Mama Melrose with the Fantasmic package. My only concern is Thanksgiving is a very popular day to visit Disney World and crowds will most likely be near or at capacity. I would call 407-939-3463 right away to make a reservation. You may find a number of the restaurants booked for that day.

    Good luck!
