We are planning on a visit to WDW in May 2009 and my husband just started Peritaneal Dialysis. He will need to do a couple fluid exchanges during the day. Is there a facility at the parks where he can do this?

Hi, Colleen!  I hope you can feel the big hug I'm sending you, as I know it can be a challenge to travel while on dialysis!

My dad was on peritoneal dialysis for two years while waiting for his kidney transplant, and he LOVED to travel!  Your best bet while visiting Walt Disney World theme parks is to bring your supplies to one of the first aid stations as soon as you get inside the park.  They will store them there for you, so you don't have to worry about what to do with everything, and then, when you husband needs to do his exchange, they will set him up in the first aid station.

They were always REALLY helpful to my dad, and it was a clean, comfortable place to do the exchanges without having to go back to the resort.

    Have a wonderful trip!
