Hello! I am planning to visit in Mid-April. I have a severely restricted medical diet. I can only have things like meat and veggies and some fruits. No sugar, no starches, no grains. What restaurants should I eat at? How can I verify the ingredients?

Hiya, Jacob! Thank you for bringing this great question to us at planDisney.

I'm so excited to hear that you'll be headed to Walt Disney World Resort in a few weeks! Spring is my favorite season to visit and I'm absolutely twitterpated for you. Jacob, I understand how important it is to navigate special diets when traveling – I'd love to help you with your meals at The Most Magical Place on Earth so you don't miss a minute of the magic!

From my experience, most table service restaurants should be able to accommodate your specific dietary needs. I'd recommend making a few advance dining reservations prior to your trip! When making a reservation, you will see a section titled "Special Dietary or Accessibility Requests" on the final page before confirming your reservation. Click "Add" next to this section, then check the boxes that pertain to your diet. When dining, ask to speak to a chef before placing an order for your meal. They will be able to talk with you in order to understand what ingredients you need to avoid and prepare a meal that's just right for you!

Similar to speaking to a chef, ask to speak to a manager or special diets-trained Cast Member at quick-service locations to ensure that you're getting the food that's most appropriate for you. While you can view menus for quick-service locations through your My Disney Experience app to narrow down your selections, it's still important to speak to someone in person to ensure that you get the right food.

My best tip is to reach out to the Special Diets team by sending an email to Special.Diets@DisneyWorld.com within two weeks of your vacation! This option is best for Guests who either have four or more allergy requests, require pureed meals, or adhere to a medically-restrictive diet. Walt Disney World Resort takes food restrictions seriously, and they will be able to provide you with a Special Dietary Request Form and can help you with the next best steps in the dining process (especially if you've already made advance dining reservations).

I hope I was able to point you in the right direction today, Jacob! I'm sending you all the faith, trust, and pixie dust that your upcoming trip is extra special. And if you have any other questions, please visit us again!

    See ya real soon!
