Hi Brittany,
I love to see a fellow Tennessean visiting my favorite place on earth! December is such a fun time to visit because the theme parks are fully decorated for the holidays, the weather is cool, and there are several fun festivals that make it extra magical.
Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party is the iconic Christmas event at Disney World. You get to see Magic Kingdom all decked out in holiday decorations, experience Mickey's Once Upon A Christmastime Parade, and see snow on Main Street. The last day to experience this party is December 20th this year. If you arrive that day, it is the perfect evening or afternoon activity. With a party ticket, you will get to enter the theme park at 4 PM and start enjoying all of the attractions! This keeps you from having to use one of your theme park ticket days for only a half day if you are arriving later in the afternoon.
The
EPCOT International Festival of the Holidays is our favorite holiday tradition at Disney World. This event runs all the way through December 30th so you will have plenty of time to enjoy it after you arrive. At this event, you can meet Santa Claus, listen to storytellers, and try traditional holiday foods from all over the world. An evening at this festival culminates in the Candlelight Processional which is a moving retelling of the story of Christmas featuring an orchestra, choir, and celebrity narrators.
During the holiday season, we also love to check out the Christmas decorations and theming at the Disney Resort hotels.
Disney's Grand Floridian Resort and Spa has a spectacular tree and a gingerbread house that is so big you can walk up to it and buy gingerbread! While you are there, I recommend getting a dining reservation at
Citricos for a fancy meal celebrating the holidays with your family or friends.
Happy Planning,
Jenna
