We are planning to visit Disney this April and overwhelmed is an understatement. What is the best thing to do for park passes, meal plans etc. HELP!!! We're also considering buying a timeshare -- are you happy?

    Hi Rita,

Do not be overwhelmed!  You plenty of time to plan a great trip.

I am guessing you have a place to stay as well as some way to get to Disney.  Now you need to plan a schedule so that you are not going crazy.  I would look at mousesavers.com and allearsnet.com for tips as well as Disney's website.

If you booked your trip through a travel agent, you may be able to upgrade your base tickets to the park hopper and water park option for free.  You can read about this at mousesavers.com.  This could save you money on your tickets.

If you are staying in a Walt Disney World Resort, you may want the park hopper option.  This will allow you to split your days between two parks.  As for dining, if you have big eaters or want to try signature restaurants, the dining plan will make sense.  I would go for the Basic as the Deluxe could cramp your touring time and increase you waistline.

For meals, pick one sit down meal a day.  This will get you out of the crowds and allow you to determine if you family should keep touring or go home.  For menus, check out allearsnet.com.  Remember you will need to make Advance Dining Reservations so that you have a seat for dinner.  Character meals also allow you to eat and see characters in one place without waiting extra time for picture taking and autographs.

As for the Disney Vacation Club, I love it!  I come at least once a year (I work for an airline).  It allows me to stay at a resort I could not afford.  It made financial sense for my family. The Castmembers with the Vacation Club are friendly and knowledgeable, and it may be worth it to take the tour.  If you bring your children, they can stay in the children's center while you go on the tour.

If you have any additional questions, write me back.

    Have a wonderful time!
    Beth
