If we are planning a vacation to Disneyland for January 2025 and our main goal is to be able to do the Haunted Mansion, when should we plan our trip to make sure it is opened after the removal of the Christmas overlay?

    Ghoulish Greetings, Meg!

I fearfully welcome you to planDisney…a place so tantalizing that, although you have just entered, I'm afraid you may never return. I’ll be your spirit guide today. Your excitement for your New Year's trip to Disneyland Resort is practically glowing. And I totally understand your fascination with the Haunted Mansion—it’s a spooky classic! I recently dived into the “Behind the Attraction” episode on Disney+, and let’s just say, it’s filled with chilling details. But with 2025 still lurking in the shadows, I had to summon some help from my friends on the other side...

I reached out to Madame Leota, who shouted into her crystal ball, “Spirits and specters, wherever you roam, give us a clue when guests can return to their originally haunted home!” She even called upon the ghostly crew to chime in with their eerie melodies and instruments, but I think a mischievous ghoul might’ve been playing hide-and-seek instead of answering directly. Those tricky spirits are keeping the exact date shrouded in mystery!

Now, Meg, the exact schedule for the Haunted Mansion’s (para)normal operations in early 2025 is still under wraps. But don’t let that rattle your chains! Closures and refurbishments usually materialize on the Hours & Events Calendar about six weeks in advance. So, be sure to keep an eye on that page and use the “Closed for Refurbishment” dropdown to check if your favorite haunted haunt is getting a ghostly refresh.

Based on my past experiences, this beloved ride usually returns to its classic eerie state around mid-January. So, if history is any guide, you could be in for a ghostly reunion around that time!

Meg, feel free to hurry baaaaaack with any more questions about your upcoming adventures. I’m here to help, and I can’t wait to share more of my favorite tips with you!

    Beware of hitchhiking ghosts,
