Hello, we are planning a vacation for 2021 to celebrate my husband's retirement, we are 14 family members, with the new reservation system we can only make up to 12 people. We also need advice on which hotel to make a reservation (not to expensive)

Magical Greetings to you, Madelene! And welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel!

I can’t think of a better way to celebrate such a monumental occasion than bringing the entire family down to The Most Magical Place on Earth! Three chEARs for your husband’s huge accomplishment!

I contacted a wonderful Cast Member who explained to me the reason you’re able to make reservations for up to 12 people is due to many of the Walt Disney World Resort hotel Room Types being able to accommodate up to 12 Guests at a time. If you are like me and intrigued about which Resort hotel rooms can hold up to 12 Guests, it would be the Grand Villas which tend to be 3 bedrooms! The best way to go about making your Theme Park Reservations would be to split your party in half. Splitting your group in half will make things a lot more manageable and organized!

Onwards to my favorite subject: Walt Disney World Resort hotels! First of all, I would encourage at least one adult per room to have their own My Disney Experience account set up. You can add each other through your Family and Friends list to stay connected and share plans.

Disney’s Art of Animation Resort is such a fun-filled hotel that is on the more affordable side. If you have any little Mouseketeers (or little Mouseketeers at heart) in your party, they will love seeing the larger than life scenes from Disney animated movies scattered around the grounds of the hotel. It has a fantastic pool and extra means of transportation— let the Disney Skyliner whisk you and your family away to EPCOT and Disney’s Hollywood Studios! Disney’s Art of Animation Resort has different Room Types which will be a great fit for your family:

Standard Rooms: These are The Little Mermaid themed and are sure to make you feel like you’re a part of Ariel’s world! The Standard Rooms sleep up to 4 adults.

Family Suites: These rooms sleep up to 6 adults and an infant. They are themed after The Lion King, Finding Nemo, and Cars, which I think you will be “wheely” impressed by!

Another great option would be Disney’s Port Orleans Resort - Riverside! I have stayed here with my Mouseketeers, and fell in love with it. It has gorgeous grounds, with beautiful pathways and gardens. You can take the Walt Disney World Water Transportation to go next-door to Disney’s Port Orleans Resort - French Quarter and enjoy some delicious Mickey shaped beignets! With two queen beds and a Child-size pull down bed, these rooms can sleep up to 5! You can always request to get adjoining rooms, and although these are just requests, Cast Members try their best to accommodate!

Madelene, I hope your husband’s retirement celebration is as magical as can be!
