Hi! Planning a vacation for Aug/Sept 2011. How is the week of Labor Day (at the parks Sun - Sat)? It would be nice to save the vacation day, but not if the crowds will be unmanageable. Would you recommend going some week before/after instead? Thanks!

Hi, Katie!  In my experience, it really isn't too bad in the week that contains Labor Day.  Much of the crowd there for Labor Day weekend have children that start back to school in the days after Labor Day, so they begin to head home to get their kids ready for back to school.

If you can tolerate the end of the summer vacationers through the weekend, I think you will notice diminishing crowds by later in the day on Labor Day.  Keep in mind, though, that any free dining promotions or other great discounts going on during that time can have an impact on crowd levels, and you will want to make sure to book any reservations in advance for dining experiences that are a must do for your family.

I hope your vacation is wonderful!
